Glances to natural sensuality/ Miradas a la sensualidad natural

Se basa en la idea de que solemos ver lo que nuestra mente está preparada para ver, miramos desde nuestras propias ataduras mentales y emocionales. La sensualidad es la atracción que desde nuestra emocionalidad reconoce como atractiva y estimulante una parte del otro; con esas mismas ideas y mirada las plantas y otros elementos de la naturaleza se nos antojan sensuales por sus formas sinuosas, texturas que bien parecen pieles humedecidas en el fragor del combate amoroso, líneas que recuerdan fragmentos de cuerpo que re-crean lo natural.

El que peca y reza obtiene su indulgencia

Pretende exacerbar el tránsito hacia las feminidades. El género y el cuerpo son construcciones identitaria o reclamos sexual-políticos, performances en los que la cotidianidad transgrede el “deber ser” para atreverse a estar siendo y haciendo una vivencia del género en la que la persona se asume autentica solamente en la medida en que se autoriza a estar siendo aquello que siempre ha querido de sí.
Este artista multidisciplinar retrata a personas a quienes aborda en la calle pero igualmente ha fotografiado a Barbies® transexuales, muñecas customizadas y exhibidas con permiso de Matel®, juguetes que ahora tienen pene, areolas y pezones y que en las imágenes se relacionan afectiva y emocionalmente con otras muñecas, por ejemplo, negras africanas, igualmente con pene.
Al respecto Velandia informa: Me interesa el respeto a la intimidad de las entrevistadas, ellas asumen que la gente no las va a respetar y mucho menos aceptar, por ello retrato muñecas; es una forma de evitar que el espectador poco experto en la diversidad de las sexualidades y el cuerpo puede verse afectado en su sensibilidad, pero esas imágenes develan fuertes historias de vida, el dolor de hacerse mujer luego de varias décadas de vivir en la masculinidad, historias de amor, de incomprensión, de rechazo social y el dolor de tener que pensarse enfermo mental para poder recibir tratamiento hormonal y ser operadas.

Transited identities/ identidades transitadas

Una serie en la que estudié el Transformismo (vestirse en femenino para realizar un espectáculo) como una forma de transitar en el género, volviéndolo parte primordial de un espectáculo. Las imágenes se realizaron en el momento en que un grupo de hombres se maquillan para caracterizarse como reconocidas mujeres cantantes.

Ser hombre o más correctamente ser masculino es una emergencia de lo religioso, lo médico y lo legal, que se convierte en la explicación, la vivencia y la emoción que la cultura, las relaciones sociales y la política han transformado en el deber ser. Desde la Grecia antigua hasta nuestros días el modelo masculino del cuerpo machificado se ha identificado con el canon de la belleza, pero en la cotidianidad los cuerpos no normados, no rasurados, delgados, fofos también son bellos, porque la explicación de la belleza en una respuesta a las emociones propias y a la búsqueda del amor.

In-Visibles: Natures transgressions

Photography, performance and installations exhibition

Decide-T Lesbian' Association, Gay, Bisexuals and Transsexuals of Alicante presents an installation and photography named Invisibles Exhibition, from Wednesday, March  31, in the Miguel Hernández Conference Room at the Alicante Branch of the University of Alicante, photographs and performance by Manuel Antonio Velandia Mora and doll construction and installation by Andrea Cano.

The exhibition presents compositions that resemble sexual contents, at some moments the resemblance is vague and at others it is clearly evident, right where nobody wants it, just the way it happens to those people who have decided to transition to the full existence of themselves.

The photographs and installations are of nude Ken® and Barbie® dolls that, unlike those distributed commercially, we let you see their genitals, and images of natural elements in which the spectators see strong sexual resemblances.

According to Velandia “There are people whose existence society would like to deny, and who therefore become invisible. Those who do not fit into the mold are often isolated, sometimes against their will. Sexuality though an eminently human experience is often observed in nature’s other realities and can be reflected in certain natural structures or in artificial constructions built by humans”.

These dolls belong to the world of unreality, especially the Barbies®, perverse and sexual in themselves. They belong to a world of unreality even more unreal. This body, impossible to forget, reminds us that other bodies are possible, that other bodies are normal and real: bodies in transition, bodies that desire to change, bodies of transvestites, bodies of transsexuals, bodies of intersexuals, bodies that are often denied, bodies that we refuse to see, bodies made invisible as a way of denying the existence of those beings who to us are strangers, not because they are, but because we refuse to accept diversity, uniqueness and peculiarity.

The dolls carry on a non-verbal, sensual and sexual communication; for those other women and those other men whose frustrated desires are steeped in consumerism, where perfect beauty and absolute silence allow us to meditate in a reality we refuse or are required to deny, and between the internal and the contextual.

Velandia asserts “We tend to see penises, vaginas, anuses, breasts, where there are no bodies, where the whims of nature or human constructions allow us to wander, watch and enjoy without having to reference the real people, without having to give explanations for our own existence or the existence of the beings we love or reject”.
